Policía Local (also called Policía Municipal or Guardia Urbana depending on the city) is organised per municipality: each ayuntamiento runs its own oposición, and it is that ayuntamiento's convocatoria that sets the exact format: the number of psicotécnico questions, the time limit, the temario and the weighting of each stage. The factor pattern, however, is the same one used across Spanish law enforcement: Numérico, Verbal, Espacial, Abstracto, Perceptivo/Atención and Memoria, with extra weight on Perceptivo/Atención, plus a personality questionnaire scored APTO / NO APTO. Because the convocatorias of different municipalities are staggered through the year, many candidates prepare once and present themselves in several.
Each municipality publishes its own convocatoria in its official bulletin, setting the plazas, the exact test format, the temario and the baremo. This is the document that governs everything. Read it first.
Aptitude test: Numérico, Verbal, Espacial, Abstracto, Perceptivo/Atención and Memoria, with extra weight typically on Perceptivo/Atención. Number of questions and time limit are set by the convocatoria.
Personality questionnaire scored pass/fail rather than on a scale, contrasted with an interview with a psychologist. It cannot be practised for like an aptitude test. Answer consistently.
Knowledge exam on the temario: Spanish Constitution, penal and traffic law, municipal ordinances (ordenanzas municipales) and local knowledge of the municipality, plus the co-official language where applicable.
Physical tests (speed, endurance, strength, agility circuit) and a medical examination, both to standards set by the convocatoria.

Scored pass/fail and contrasted with a psychological interview. There is nothing to memorise: consistency across the questionnaire, and between the questionnaire and the interview, is what is being examined.
Practice NowEspacial (Policía Local style): A square floor tile has an arrow printed on it pointing North, and a single dot in the top-right corner. The tile is rotated 90° clockwise. Where does the arrow point, and where is the dot?
Every ayuntamiento sets its own convocatoria. Download the one for the municipality you are applying to before you buy a single book. The format, temario and weighting are all in it.
Because convocatorias in different municipalities are staggered through the year, one solid preparation cycle can cover several attempts. Plan a calendar of convocatorias, not a single date.
Perceptivo/Atención carries extra weight. Practise it daily and always against the clock.
The temario includes municipal ordinances and local knowledge of the specific municipality. That part is not transferable between towns. Budget separate study time for each convocatoria you enter.
The personality questionnaire is APTO / NO APTO and cannot be trained like an aptitude test. Answer consistently; the psychologist's interview is used to contrast your responses.
The nota de corte is set per convocatoria and depends on the plazas offered and how many candidates present themselves; it is often not published in advance. Maximise your score rather than chase a threshold.
